1. A new
clerk to the council was appointed - Mrs.Karen Holloway who will take up
her duties on April 28th.
2. A letter was received from the West Wales Trunk Road Agency to explain
that they had taken the Community Councils requests to the
Welsh Assembly who have agreed that St.Florence be sign posted off the new
trunk road at Sageston Round about. The council expressed
their satisfaction that common sense has prevailed over this matter. A letter
of support for the council's view was also received from the
Welsh Tourist board for which the council is grateful.
3. Bus Shelter at entrance to Green Hayes. Some confusion has arisen over
the replacing of this old bus shelter with a new perspex one. The council
agreed to write to PCC reiterating their view that what is required is that
the existing shelter be replaced on the same site but at
road level. It was agreed to send a copy of this letter to Clr.Mrs Pat Griffiths
and to the resident of 16 Green Hayes.
4. Strimming of various areas of common land around the village. No tenders
were received for this work. It was agreed to make further
efforts to obtain tenders for this work.
5. No reply has been received from Western Power Distribution regarding
the new electricity ploes in the village.
6. The repainting of the village hall is going ahead.
7. PCC informed the council that the drainage system at the bottom of Castle
Lane will be revised in the new financial year.
8. No reply has been received regarding the resurfacing of the pavement
outside Court Vale.
9. The road drain outside Parsonage Farm Inn has collapsed - the county
council to be informed.
10. The department responsible for footpaths at the County Council is looking
into the ownership of the Jubilee Footpath (created in 1977)
which runs if front of Greenhills Hotel through the woods and meets Flemish
Close.
11.Record Books. Mr.J.Wolveson has some old record books apertaining to
land transactions in the area over many years in his ownership. He has asked
the council to consider a suitable place for these to be kept.
12.All required documentation is no available for the Public Entertainment
licence. 13.It was agreed to purchase a new directional sign to the Village
hall, Sports field, play area and car park.
14.Sewerage. Concern is still being expressed regarding the sewerage spill
into the Ritec over the Christmas period. No steps appear to have been taken
to prevent this happening again. To be discuss again at next meeting.
15.Planning.
a. 2 dwellings Parsonage Inn - Car parking space already required for 6
existing dwellings plus hotel & restaurant. Concern was expressed that
if extra dwellings are built in car park there will be overflow parking
on to the road which will cause a dangerous situation. It was also felt
that there is a danger of over development of site.
b. Tregoiyre - Old Blacksmiths Shop, demolition of part of existing building
& re-building extension of existing blacksmith shop to form
a residential dwelling (in retrospect). This is the same application as
first submitted but new build involved. No Objections
c.Gandiflora Plant & Garden Centre - Re-location of existing shop, new
covered walkway & revised car
parking area. No objections.
Notice of permission was received for engineering works at Dinosaur Park
also extension Halycon.
16.PCC informed the council that the Mill Bridge is in need of reconstruction.
The work will take approx. 3 weeks and diversions
will be in place for about 3 weeks. The work will probably take place in
June or September. It was agreed that once this work is completed the chipping
work planned by the Old Mill will be completed.
17.St.Florence W.I sent a letter complaining of the amount of skate boarding
paraphernalia left in the hall car park causing dangerous
obstacles for hall users. The council sympathised with their feelings and
reassured them that steps would be taken to try to stop this practise.
18. The planning application submitted to PCC for a new skate board area
seems to have stalled. Inquires to be made as to the problem.
19.St.Florence Cricket Club requested permission to have extra storage space.
It was agreed that a steel container be allowed in a position to be agreed
but probably where the old railway carriage is sited although the remains
of this will have to be cleared first.
20.Hall & Field Booking. It was agreed after a full discussion that
the Sports Club would have priority of Saturday bookings.
Fixture lists to be lodged with booking clerk at the earliest opportunity.
21.There is a new editor for the newsletter - Ms Maureen Meads, 14 Parklands,

22. Complaints have been received about parking along the road outside Greenhills
Hotel causing obstructions. It was agreed to write to he hotel and ask them
to discourage guests from causing a problem for residents and pointing out
that there is ample parking by the village hall. Any further complaints
should be directed to the Police.
22. The date of the next meeting falls on Easter Monday so it will be held
a week later on April 28th.
