| Everyone in the group enjoyed reading this novel although most agreed that some of the passages were rather 'dark'. It is set in Barcelona six years after the end of the civil war. Daniel Sempere, the son of a bookseller, discovers a novel written by Julian Carax. Daniel becomes obsessed with this author and is determined to find out what became of him. His quest leads him on numerous adventures which combine humour, horror, politics and romance. Well worth reading and I can't wait to visit Barcelona
